One-third of women murdered in the U.S. are killed by an intimate partner.
Real lives interrupted by domestic violence.
“Uninterrupted Stories” is a social media takeover project. We made use of a pre-existing feature on Instagram: when a story is removed by a user, a blank screen appears with the words “this story is no longer available.” On International Women’s Day, we took over these blank “no longer available” screens and replaced them with the names of real women whose lives were cut short by domestic violence.
The stories led to additional content, as well as to the website of our charity partner, Safe in Harm’s Way.
Women’s rights leaders and organizations donated their profiles to deploy the screens worldwide. In the end, the campaign reached approximately 4.5 million Instagram users and brought in $435k in social media donations.
